An Introduction to MRMS

To all potential 2016 TT Course & Billown Course Doctors and Paramedics!

My name is Dr. Gruff Evans, and I am writing to introduce myself, and my colleagues Dr. Gareth Davies and Dr. Sally Simmons.

You will be aware that Dr. David B. Stevens MBE, after thirty+ years of organising medical services for the TT, Manx Grand Prix and Billown events, has stepped down.

The Isle of Man Government has been through a tender process to find a new organisation to take over from David, and to assume responsibility for the medical services for roadracing events on the island.

I am happy to say that Sally, Gareth and myself were successful in that process and we have been awarded the contract to provide all medical services for the TT, Festival of Motorcycling and Billown events for the next 3 years.

In order to deliver the services, we have established a new organisation called Manx Roadracing Medical Services [MRMS] and it is our intention to work with individuals such as you, as well as with partner organisations such as Hogg Motorsport, Red Cross, St. John Ambulance and the Rob Vine Fund in order to ensure the high standards, set by David during the last 30+ years, are continued. For now, 2016 Information for doctors and paramedic is still valid on www.mms.org.im/mms/mo-mp-info.shtml

This new organisation, MRMS, will be based in The Hoggery in Nobles Park and in many ways we hope you, as an individual, will not notice any significant changes. We are however still finding our feet, and playing catch up after the delays caused by the Governments tendering process. We hope you will bear with us during this transitional period.

MRMS will be receiving administrative support from the Rob Vine Fund, specifically from Stuart Greaves, the Charity’s administrator, who many of you will know. Stuart can be contacted at the Hoggery 01624 628999 or sgreaves@mms.org.im

Alternatively, you can contact me on 07624 420085 any time or 01624 686949 during office hours. If I am not immediately available, I will contact you as soon as I am able.

Finally, I look forward to working with you during 2016, and on behalf of Sally, Gareth and myself I would like to thank you for your support.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Gruff Evans, Manx Roadracing Medical Services
